The cock crows and the day begins in our village. It’s quite a big village, about 2000 people live here. Most people in China live in villages like we do. It’s February and it’s our Chinese New Year holiday. We’re all up, bright and early for a very tough training session. Tomorrow we are putting on a special display. There are 30 of us all together. The youngest is six and the oldest is 16. This is the courtyard where we train every day. So what exactly are are practicing? Well, it’s Kung Fu. Kung Fu is a very old Chinese way of fighting. You use it to defend yourself if someone attacks you. We’re really lucky to have Master Dung as our teacher. He is nearly 70 years old, but he’s the very best at Kung Fu for miles around. He’s teaching Chao Juan now. This is Master Dung’s son. He’s teaching these two boys how to deliver a powerful punch.

(Students practice Kung Fu)

Your grip must be as tight as eagles’ claws.
Your feet must be as firmly set in the ground as a drill.
Your eyes must move as fast as a comet.

If we can remember these three things, no body will ever dare to hurt us.
