Ingredients: Iron and B Vitamins
Instructions: If you summer from SEVERE chapped lips, this might be the solution. I got this remedy from my doctor.
I was suffering from extreme chapped lips. (I had done all the other remedies (blistex, chapstick, olive oil, sesame oil (YUM), exfoliation, drinking water, etc and none of them worked.) My lips would crack so bad they would bleed, the entire surface of the lips would be dry and crackled and would peel, and by the next day the same thing again. I was amazed at how quickly, my lips were peeling off constantly. I also suffered from headaches and feeling tired, turns out I was anemic.
A blood test for a new job revealed I was low in iron and my red blood cell count was too low. I don\'t eat red meat and although I took vitamins and supplements, most have folic acid, but not iron. So I started iron supplements, and B12 and B4 vitamin supplements. Within 3-4 days, the headaches went away and the severe chapped lips are gone.
BUT, be careful to be sure you actually have anemia, ask a doctor, you don\'t want to get too much iron - Guidelines vary but typically only 17mg a day (supplements tend to be 20mg or more, but not all of this is absorbed). (Multi-vitamins for old people and women also have lower dosage of iron in them). Take iron with B vitamins and see if this improves your lips!! Good luck!!

Ingredients: During spring/early summer, I experienced chapped lips for
the first time for at least 2-3 months thinking it was anything from
allergies, brand of lipstick, dryness in the air, not enough liquids,
right vitamins, etc., etc., etc. It seems as though I tried a thousand
different remedies to no avail. Finally, rummaging through my medicine
closet, I found a container of \"bag balm\", made by Dairy Association
Co., Inc. in Vermont. (easily found in the drugs store) It is an
\"antiseptic\" used for the cows utters. No, I am not a \"cow\", nor do I
own any. It was recommended to me by my dear late sister Margaret for a
different situation many years ago. I decided to give it a try. I
used it for one-two days and WALLA!!!!! NO MORE CHAP LIPS!!!! As the
saying goes, if all else fails, you\'ll try anything.... what have you got
to loose???? THANKS MARGARET!

Country of Remedy: USA
Ingredients: Olive oil, Vitamin E oil, Aloe Vera or Cocoa Butter stick
Instructions: I've used vaseline as a cure for chapped lips for over ten years.
You know what? It temporarily feels better, but in the long
run it does nothing to actually heal the lips. It offers relief at first,
but if I put it on before going to sleep, my lips are chapped again in
the morning. I've been experimenting with different oils now, as well as cocoa
butter. The only negative thing about them is that I tend to break out easily,
so I have to be careful using any type of oil (vaseline doesn't cause breakouts).
But my lips feel much better.
Vaseline also doesn't offer any protection from the sun or wind during daylight
hours, so I use a moisturizer with spf. Some good ones that actually do moisturize
(no chapstick brand has ever worked for me) are Neutrogena and Softlips. Also,
be very careful with the type of lipglosses and lipsticks you use. I've found
that any type of lip gloss with a sponge applicator always, always, always
dries my lips out. They made my lips feel like they were about to fall off,
from MAC to Cover Girl. Even though the best colors are always that type.
Certain lipsticks do to. But I've long quit lipsticks because of my lips chapping
so easily. I now make sure I always have a protective coat on my lips, then
use a clear or slightly tinted lip gloss from a tube (after much experimentation
with cheap and expensive ones, the best so far has been Sally Hansen ones).
Roll on lip glosses are also ok - no benefits but also no negatives for me.
But please stay away from the spong applicator glosses. I still keep a little
tub or tube of vaseline around, mostly out of habit, but the oils have actually
started healing my lips. I've finally found a solution.

Ingredients: A daily multivitamin
and extra water per day
Instructions: PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE SEVERELY CHAPPED LIPS: I recently had
a serious battle with extremely dry, chapped and peeling lips. I had never
had the problem before and then all of a sudden, my lips were like those of
a corpse. No matter what kind of lip balm or treatment I used, nothing helped.
I would exfoliate and moisterize one day and the next morning, they were chapped,
scaling and peeling again. I even went to see a doctor, who advised me it
could have been extreme sun burn and that it should get better with time.
She also advised that I use Vaseline... which IS NOT the thing to do. I had
to learn that the hard way. Vaseline deadens the outer layer of the skin on
the lips and discolors them. DO NOT USE VASELINE. Finally, after two months
of research and a second opinion at the doctor's I found out that the cause
of my chapped lips were a symptom of low iron in the blood, or anemia. Yes,
anemia! I found out that I was borderline anemic because I of my diet. I also
researched the condition on WebMD.com and a sign of low iron in the blood
was chapped lips. My diet usually consisted of coffee in the morning, a candy
bar at lunch and maybe a few slices or pizza or fries for dinner. I ate like
this for about a year (divorce does this... smile). I wasn't get any vitamins
or nutrients at all! This caused me to become extremely anemic and according
to the doctors, low iron in the blood can cause chapped lips. The doctor recommended
that I immediately begin taking a multivitamin until I could get my diet under
control and get my nutrition levels back up. What do you know... I started
taking a multivitamin about a week ago, added additional water to my diet
and started using an intense overnight treatment for my lips. My lips have
done a total 180 and are slowly getting back to normal. Try a daily multivitamin
and extra water per day! For those who have fought this battle for some time,
what could it hurt! Hope this helps as I know how embarrassing and irritating
this condition can be.

Ingredients: Extract of
neem leaf
Instructions: I had chapped lips that nothing would work on and were quite
painful. I found that an extract of neem leaf (I used the alcohol extract)
applied several times a day, solved the problem.
Hello,
For 5 months I have been experiencing chapped lips. They were always delicate and peeled whenever I talked or ate food. They always felt terrible and my doctors said that it wasn't an infection or anything.I did everything to take care of them you can think of, and after using over 11 products I finally found the combination that cured me (at least for the last four days). I've been using this combination for a week and a half, so it seemed like a miracle that it worked in such a short amount of time after 5 months of no improvement.
A *thin* layer of hydrocortisone 1%,
go over it with Classic Chapstick (black tube). The first few times this might
make them look worse, but after a while each time you use it they will look
and feel better, until one day you just wont need it.
Few tips:
1. Take cold or room temperature showers, make them snappy, don't get soap
on your lips
2. Use a straw if you are afraid of damaging lips by having them rub against
the glass. (for me this would take off skin)
3. Don't find yourself waking up in the middle of the night drooling face
flat in your pillow. I would sleep on my back with my legs wedged in between
the wall and my mattress and wrap my blanket around my body like a cocoon
so I couldn't move more than *maybe* onto my side.
4. If you have recently stopped using retainers, you might want to consider
putting them back in. My lips seem to have had to readjust each time I stopped
or started using them.
5. Eat a banana.
6. Drink more water than you think you need.
7. When you exhale you release moisture into the air, so let your dog sleep
in your room. (can't hurt, plus your dog will be happy)
8. Leave a window open when you sleep and see the effect. Better or worse?
9. Wake up in the middle of the night and have a little water. And maybe a
banana.
10. Eat more bananas.
Hope this helps. If you don't like my method, I also used burts bees for awhile, and I have to say, it's the 2nd best thing I've ever used. I definitely don't recommend anything other than what I've suggested though.

sugar
Instructions: I was reading this site and i saw all these good ones and i couldn't decide what to use! so i thought, "why not combine them and make my own?" I did and it works sooooo well! You want it to have mostly vaseline, half of the amount of vaseline put butter, then put 1 teaspoon each of the olive oil and sugar. The vaseline is the base, the butter moisturizes and plumps, the sugar exfoliates, and the olive oil glosses and moisturizes. It is the best home remedy you could ask for! This home remedy is for chapped lips. In my family we were always told by my grandmother Ella to use Mentholatum. You put as much on as you would chapstick. It's best to put it on before you go to bed at night. When you wake in the morning it's all gone. Works really well on severely chapped lips. I hope you benefit from this remedy, it's always worked for us. Thank you
