Ingredients: Mentholatum Ointment Instructions: I have used this remedy for years. It saved me many sleepless nights when my children were little.Take a very small dab of Mentholatum Ointment on the tip of your finger and put on the back of the tongue.
To tell how far to put it, you'll feel a rough patch on the back of the tongue. Press
down slightly and dragging while pulling the finger out of the mouth. Then wait a few seconds and swallow. This usually relieves the cough instantly.

Ingredients: 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
Instructions: At the first sign of a cold, put a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into each ear, one ear at a time. Keep the solution in for 10 minutes or until the bubbling stops. Your temperature should start dropping within minutes, and your cold should be gone within 12 to 14 hours.Cook until it comes to a slow boil. Sip as hot as you can. This will move congestion out of the chest and help the cold get out of your body. Recipe given me by a 2nd grade teacher. Betty G. , USA

Ingredients: ear waxalcohol
zilactin(the liquid form)
lysine
Instructions: first off i would like to say thank you for this wonderful message board. I am 25 years old and have been suffering from cold sores since the 3rd grade. I turned to the internet because I was desperate. When i say i tried everything, i mean everything.over the counter and prescription. from valtrex to abreva to zovirax to campho, well you get the idea. so i was desperate. i came on this website and kept seeing a lot of people going through what i go thru all too often. then i looked for remedies. the one thing a lot of people mentioned was ear wax. yeah it does sound gross but we all know how it feels to be desperate with these damn cold sores. so hey i tried it and low and behold my cold sore started going down and not throbbing. i was so happy tears fell down my eyes seriously. i am in tthe entertainment industry and cold sores were affecting my work. i couldnt go on tv with a big sore on my mouth. so really this message is just to say thank you to all of you. i learned more from you guys than any doctor could ever teach me. all i did was clean the area with alcohol and then let it dry and put the ear wax on! IT WORKS!!!! also zilactin helps dry it out as well. on a daily basis even when u dont have a cold sore make sure you take one lysine tablet a day. this helps too. i actually learned that from this website. the best thing to do with any cold sore is dry it out! i dont believe in all those creams and stuff because it keeps the sore moist. you want it to dry out and scab. so if you dont like the ear wax thing just think of things that will dry it out. good luck and again thank you guys for all your help. we are in this together. i love yall

ingredients = Spicy V8 Garlic (as fresh as possible for best results) Pepper (also freshly ground if possible) Optional: tobasco sauce, dandelion (no green)

This is a modified (hence, the V8) family recipe that has ALWAYS worked for anyone I've ever known to try it. It is best if taken at the first hint of a cold/flu. Get Spicy V8 (although regular V8 or tomato juice will do) and add as much freshly ground garlic (or seep garlic cloves in the mixture; the longer the better), and as much pepper as you can stand. If it burns, good. Then you know you're using enough pepper. You can add tobasco if you'd like too, and dandelion flower (minus the green which makes the mixture bitter) for a little extra punch. Drink this for the duration of the day and by the next morning, you won't even remember you were sick.
