Children, Parents and Grandparents will learn and share together in a family literacy class.

Step One: Instructor reads a story by Carmen Lomas Garza or some other books which describes cultural traditions.

Step Two: After hearing the story families will talk about the picture and discuss some of the following:

How did the parents celebrate this tradition when they where young?
How do they celebrate this tradition now?
How have the children celebrated this tradition?
What changes have been made to this tradition in their families?

Step 3: Each child in each family will draw a picture depicting their family celebrating this tradition.

Step 4: After the drawings are finished each family will share their experiences and drawings with the other families

Step 5: Children will write stories in English and/or Spanish to accompany their pictures

Step 6: Children will be taught how to post their work on the web.
