INGREDIENTS: This site was really helpful too. Another that could work
for sinus is to boil a bit of ginger, fennel seeds, one clove, a bit of
cinammon, and a bit of cardamon.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Boil the ingredients in a bit of water and set to cool. Strain and then
dilute the solution with a bit of water. Drink as needed.
It clears out sinus and infection too.
Thanks,
Simeen
I would love to tell your readers how I keep my sinus headaches under control
after MANY years of sinus problems....
When I feel a sinus headache coming on, I take a hair dryer as hot and as close
to my face (where the pain is) as I can stand it....and as it starts to loosen
the 'gunk' in my head I swallow like crazy trying to bring down the 'gunk' out
of my sinuses. It really works most times and prevents the 'gunk' from staying
up there and progressing to a sinus infection! I heard the hair dryer trick
in relation to earaches and one night in desperation I used it and VIOLA!, it
worked!
One other thing...since my sinus problems tend to stem from a sensitivity to
scents, another trick I have is that as soon as I detect a whiff of a perfume,
I start to breathe through my mouth instead of my nose, so I can leave the area
and then breathe normally.... it can stave off many a problem! Be careful with
this one though...it happened in church, so I couldn't leave right away and
started hyperventilating and almost passed out!
One more thing also, is that, believe it or not, inhaling SKUNK helped with
a sinus headache a few years ago. It has forever changed my way of thinking
about skunks...I LOVE THEM!!!! Unfortunately, it is not too easy to find a skunk
'spray' when you need one...lol.....it was just a lucky happenstance for me
that one time.
I hope this helps even one person......!

I have found that by taking a tsp of lemon juice a day (i take one every night before bed) helps with my SEVERE sinus/allergy problems (the pain and headaches), bladder infections, constipation, diabetes, and hangovers - you will wake up refreshed and full of energyIt truly does work!
My husband get sinus infections a lot and,
when he starts getting sinus problems he starts taking ZINC tablets, 50 mg.
and he feels better in a few days and doesn't have to go to the doctor and it
works for colds, when you feel one coming on start the ZINC. Works for us.

First off I like your site. I have always
wondered what others do at home for when they are sick esp. other countries!
I found it very helpful today since I have been sick for MONTHS with sinus problems,
allergies, fluid in the ears and so on. To add to that now a bladder infection!
Here is something my aunt suggested to me back in Feb. and I have found it very
helpful in clearing my sinuses. I tell this to everyone! My aunt is a Dr. and
used this in her family for over a year! I have added my own notes to her notes.
Nasal Saline Irrigation
Recipe for hypertonic saline (salt water) for irrigation:
1) Boil 1 quart of water and let cool off (or use distilled water) I put all
the stuff in while it is still pretty hot since it dissolves better.
2) Add 2-3 teaspoons of pickling salt or “sea salt” (Do not use
regular table salt since it has unwanted additives) I use some kind of Jewish
Salt found at Wal-Mart. Lol It is just plain salt.
3) Add 1 Teaspoon of baking soda as a buffer (bicarbonate) that eliminates most
of the stinging nature of the salt.
Using an infant bulb syringe (these are used to help clean out a baby’s
nose), draw up the solution and irrigate through the nose over a sink. Some
of the irrigating solution should come out the mouth to let you know that you
are doing a good job. An alternative some people prefer is to use a nasal attachment
with a water pik to irrigate the nose. You may wish to warm up the solution
prior to irrigation to make it more comfortable.
Benefits of hypertonic saline irrigation
1) It cleans mucous, crusts and blood clots from the nose.
2) It decongests the nose. This means that because of the high salt concentration
in the irrigating solution, fluid is pulled out of the nasal membranes. This
shrinks the linings to improve nasal airflow and open up the sinus passages.
3) Saltwater cleansing of the nasal membranes improves beating of the little
hairs (cilla) inside the nose to clear debris, bacteria and mucous.
Note
If you are using a topical nasal steroid, first do the saline irrigation, gently
blow your nose, and then use the topical steroid. This allows the agent to reach
deeper into the nose and sinus passages and allows for maximum contact with
nasal membranes.
Notes from a user of this:
The first time I did it took a few times to get the liquid to drip back down
my throat. Then for the first week or so I was in more pain around my sinuses.
This is because it was working to loosen all the stuff that clogged up in there.
Finally it started coming out was gross. My nose would bleed a little bit and
blood clots would come out. But this really has helped me a lot. I even stopped
for awhile because I felt so good! I would let a few days pass and not use it
then a week and so on. I ended up with a sinus infection! So I am back to doing
it every day. I still dread it but it works!
Sinus Problems
Start with a large glass of V8 type juice (tomato juice is ok too, but less
flavor and missing other vegetable juices). Add 1-2 tablespoons of lemon
juice. 1 or 2 cloves of fresh garlic, Couple of dashes of hot sauce.
Heat this up in the microwave and drink it hot. You're taking in
tons of vitamin C, garlic is good for the immune system and is a powerful germ
killer. Hot sauce clears out the sinuses immediately. This works
great for me, and I keep these ingredients around all the time.

Ingredients: Colloidal Silver
Instructions: Colloidal Silver has been used to kill over 320 types of bacterias
and 150 viruses. It kills them all, unlike antibiotics that
can only a limited amounts of strains of bacterica.Colloidal Silver is found
in Health food stores and isnt too expensive. I have been suffering from Sinus
Infections for years since I had my nose fixed from a deviated septum.I am also
a singer by trade, so I have to be able to sing. One day I was reading about
Collodial Silver and its use on Warts, etc. then I read something about a company
added it to their zinc Pray ( ZiCam, type of spray). Well, I decided to put
a couple of drops of Colloidal Silver in my nose, wait a couple of minutes them
blow my nose.I repeated the next day a couple of times. Well It works. The sinus
i nfection was gone,I could breathe normally again and I was singing the
next day at a wedding.I recommend trying it. Also make sure to take some of
the drops under the tongue so it gets into your blood stream to kill bacteria
and viruses. Works on Sore throats too. You can feel it working right away!
Hello,
I found your site so helpful!
Here is an added item to the already great information about sinus problems.
If you do not have ready access to eucalyptus you can drop a cough drop into
a cup of hot water and breath the vapor. The best kind are the plain menthol
kind but i have used others.
Also, drinking hot tea seems to open up the nasal passage.

Ingredients: water, baking soda, salt
Instructions: Squirt a mixture of warm water and salt up your nose (an empty
nasal spray bottle works great), followed by a mixture of warm water and baking
soda. Do this 3 or 4 times a day, it will clear up a mild sinus infection.
I've got a home remedy i like to use for
sinus and chest related colds. You make a mock inhaler by breathing the
steam of boiling water. There are a number of medicinal herbs you can
put into the hot water too. Garlic is good for ANY cold because it is
a natural antibiotic that does wonders for your immune system. Cayenne
pepper stimulates blood flow and is good for clearing breathing passages.
I also reccomend thyme, eucalyptus, mint, echinacea, or coltsfoot. Just
boil some water and pour it into a mug with any variety of herbs above (garlic
especially). Now cup both hands over the top and inhale the steam slowly
through your nose or mouth. Careful, it may be a little too hot.
Not only does the steam decongest your nasal and breathing passages, but
the moisture loosens phlegm and mucus and soothes a dry, irritated throat
or nose. If you have a head cold or that pressure right between your eyes
this is SO incredibly soothing and relaxing. Not to mention all the medicinal
benefits you get from the herbs you put in it. Use small amounts with
the herbs (just a pinch or two) because some can be so overwhelming its
unpleasant, like eucalyptus or red pepper. With garlic you can crush a
couple pieces though.
